Focus Display - Walter Scott's Herbarium
Walter Scott collected a total of 888 plant specimens from all over the islands and from all habitats. This display, located in the lower gallery, features samples from this vital archive and reference collection.
1954 Prunier Trophy

Interesting item
This weather vane was awarded by famous London Restaurateur, Madame Prunier, to the Jessie Sinclair, as it was the boat with the largest catch of herring during the 1954 East-Anglian season.
The John Tait letter volumes

New archive collection
These volumes, containing copies of thousands of letters by John Tait, are of special interest as they contain letters to his son James Alexander, who emigrated to Canada and became a well-known ethnographer and friend of Indians.

Focus Display - Preacher, postman, soldier, seaman
Located outside the archives, this display showcases recent donations to the Archives, including diaries, school log books, postcards, pharmacy ledgers and correspondence all of which document various aspects of life in Shetland.
