Microfilm

We collect microfilm of records held elsewhere. Our large collection includes:

  • Parish registers of births, marriages and deaths from the 17th century onwards 
  • Censuses from 1841-1901
  • The Shetland Times (1872-present) and Shetland News (1885-1963)
  • Orkney and Caithness newspapers (from 1837) which carried Shetland stories before Shetland had a newspaper of its own.
